The Aqua Compressor collection by Farer

The Aqua Compressor collection has been a staple of the Farer catalogue since 2017, and over the years it has constantly evolved. First came the transition from stainless steel cases to lightweight titanium, which reduced the weight of the watch to just 62g.

Now the range has been reimagined yet again, and this time with an even greater focus on function. Joining the popular black Endeavour are two new models - the Endeavour Ocean White and the Hecla Carmine Red - and together these three watches lead the way as Farer’s purpose-built dive watches.

For this new release, we are continuing to support the marine conservation charity the Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust. A portion of the profits from the sale of each Aqua Compressor will go to the trust to help protect the fragile state of our sealife through their programme of research. Creating meaningful change for the future of Scottish Hebridean marine life.

We are proud to have already raised £43,500 with our first and second series, and with the third release of the Aqua Compressors, we aim to hit our target of£50,000.

The Aqua Compressor case is built from grade 2 titanium and is remarkably light, weighing just 62g. It measures 41mm in diameter, with a 45mm lug-to-lug, and is just 12.5mm thick. The top of the case is fully brushed, with the case sides being polished to give the design some discreet flair. Blending seamlessly into the curves of the cushion-shaped case is a 2.2mm double-domed sapphire crystal, which has multiple internal layers of anti-reflective coating.

The Aqua Compressor carries a depth rating of 300m, and like the super compressors of old, it achieves this through the water pressure increasingly compressing the gaskets inside the watch the deeper down the watch is. Lightweight and robust, this makes the Aqua Compressor the perfect dive watch to traverse an underwater abyss.

Inside the Aqua Compressor beats the Sellita SW200-1. This 26-jewel Swiss automatic movement beats at a rate of 4Hz and has a power reserve of approximately 38 hours.

The rotor has been engraved with a bespoke wave design, which you can see through the watch’s sapphire exhibition case back. The Aqua Compressors use the elaboré grade version of this popular calibre, and each movement has been adjusted for accuracy in three positions.

ENDEAVOUR OCEAN WHITE

The Endeavour Ocean White offers a whole new take on our Aqua Compressor. This model doesn’t just provide a new colour scheme, but a new feature, with a fully lumed dial and bezel. The white surfaces have been carefully applied with Grade X1 Super-LumiNova, which provides the best low-light legibility yet.

This stark white has been paired with jetblack printing, blacked-out hands and applied numerals. This monochrome layout gives the Endeavour Ocean White the highest possible contrast and makes the dial exceptionally easy to read.

The minute track is recessed, and combined with the applied hour markers, this gives the dial a sense of depth. Similarly, the Farer “A” at the 12 o’clock position on the bezel is also applied. Lastly, the dial is printed with a subtle wave pattern that’s visible beneath the lume. This crisp monochrome dial is the perfect example of how the Aqua Compressors are first and foremost practical dive watches born for a life under the waves.

HECLA CARMINE RED

The Hecla Carmine Red is the boldest Aqua Compressor yet, with a deep red dial and matching integrated rubber strap. Onto this matte red dial are mounted a mix of batons and Arabic numerals.

These are pure white and are made from a blend of ceramic and Super-LumiNova known as Lumicast. Paired with a white handset filled with X1 Super-LumiNova, these provide excellent legibility under any lighting conditions.

Against the edge of the dial sits the internal rotating bezel that is a signature feature of compressor dive watches. Operated by the lower screw-down crown, this unidirectional bezel also has lumed markings.

With such excellent contrast, it’s immediately apparent that the Hecla Carmine Red is a dive watch that puts practicality at the forefront of its design.
