THE NEW PORSCHE CAYENNE PLATINUM EDITION

For two decades, the Porsche Cayenne has set the benchmark for underlining the sport in sport utility vehicle, its combination of four-wheel drive and four doors offering outstanding chassis dynamics paired with versatile everyday usability.

With the launch of the new Cayenne Platinum Edition, the renowned German sports car manufacturer is increasing choice with a special model featuring exclusive coordinated design elements in a satin Platinum paint finish in combination with extra equipment as standard. This will appeal to drivers looking for an agile all-wheel drive sports car that mixes discreet style with the capability to carry up to five passengers in comfort.

The Platinum Edition is offered as a Cayenne, Cayenne E-Hybrid and Cayenne S model, and is also available in the corresponding Coupé body style. Its refined and exclusive design is characterised by specific details highlighted in satin-finish Platinum. For example, the inlays in the front air intake slats, the ‘Porsche’ lettering integrated within the LED rear light strip, the model designation on the tailgate and the standard 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels (which are reserved especially for the car), are picked out in this colour. Sports exhaust tailpipes and side window trims in black contrast with the brightwork, and serve to emphasise the sporting, elegant exterior appearance. Solid paint colours in white and black, metallic paint finishes in Jet Black, Carrara White, Mahogany and Moonlight Blue, and the special colour Crayon are available.

Upon entering the car, Crayon-coloured seat belts and brushed aluminium door entry sills with the ‘Platinum Edition’ logo catch the eye, and these are complemented by a textured aluminium interior package and silver-coloured trim.

To bring further luxury emphasis, the Cayenne Platinum Edition features additional equipment as standard inside. This includes eight-way powered adjustable leather sports seats, the Porsche Crest embossed on the front and rear headrests, a Bose ® surround-sound audio system, ambient lighting control, and an analogue clock on the dashboard. These are complemented by LED headlights including Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS), a panoramic roof system, and privacy glass.

Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur also offers a wide range of further options for the interior and exterior – from selective changes to extensive modifications

Cayenne Platinum Edition

The Cayenne Platinum Edition and Coupé are powered by a 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged petrol engine developing 340 PS (250 kW) driving all four wheels through an eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission. Acceleration from 0-62 mph is possible in 6.2 secs (6.0 secs Coupé) and top speed is 152 mph (151 mph Coupé) where permitted. Fuel consumption (WLTP) is 22.6 - 24.1 mpg Combined, equivalent to 283 - 266 CO2 Combined.

Cayenne E-Hybrid Platinum Edition

The plug-in hybrid Cayenne and Cayenne Coupé E-Hybrid models pair a 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged petrol engine developing 340 PS (250 kW) with a 100 kW (136 PS) electric motor that is integrated into the eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission. This delivers to a total system output of 462 PS (340 kW) to all four wheels.

The gross capacity of the high-voltage lithium-ion battery is 17.9 kWh. The electric motor alone provides torque of 400 Nm and helps provide a purely electric top speed of 84 mph. Measured in line with the WLTP EAER Combined cycle, the Cayenne E-Hybrid can cover up to 25 - 27 miles using battery power.

Any increased power demand from the driver or switching to the Sport or Sport Plus driving modes activates the internal combustion engine. Acceleration from 0-62 mph takes 5.0 secs (5.1 secs Coupé) and top speed is 157 mph. Fuel consumption (WLTP) is 76.3 mpg - 85.6 mpg Combined, equivalent to 83 - 75 g/km CO2 Combined.

Most drivers charge their vehicles at home so a conventional domestic or industrial electrical socket is sufficient for charging Porsche plug-in hybrid models. Depending on the vehicle model, a charging power of up to 7.2 kW can be achieved with the Porsche Mobile Charger Connect. Using a Mode 3 charging cable, it is also possible to charge at public charging points.

In 2021, UK sales of the Cayenne E-Hybrid and Panamera E-Hybrid models together with those of the all-electric Taycan, saw the combined proportion of Porsche sports cars sold with an electrified drivetrain total nearly 40 per cent. The company has a corporate strategy to fulfil 50 per cent of global sales with cars powered by an electric motor by 2025, and the company is clearly on track to support this sustainability objective.

Cayenne S Platinum Edition

A twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre V6 petrol engine distinguishes the Cayenne S Platinum Edition. With an output of 440 PS (324 kW) driving both axles, acceleration from 0-62 mph takes 5.2 secs (5.0 secs Coupé) and on to a potential top speed of 165 mph (163 mph Coupé). Fuel consumption (WLTP) is 21.9 – 23.3 mpg, equivalent to 292 – 274 g/km CO2 Combined.

Cayenne Success

Since it was launched in 2002, the Cayenne has sold over one million examples worldwide and firmly established itself as the definitive sports car for five.

Last summer, the fastest production Cayenne ever to be offered by Porsche, the Cayenne Turbo GT, made its debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. With this car, Porsche celebrated the success of its SUV model range with a version tuned for maximum performance and handling.

The Cayenne Turbo GT is powered by a 640 PS (471 kW) version of the proven, Porsche 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 and provides the basis for the superb driving characteristics. It can sprint from 0-62 mph in 3.3 seconds and on to a top speed, where permitted, of 186 mph. Overall, the result is a potent concept backed up by incredible track capability. This has been proven by Porsche test driver Lars Kern who lapped the 12.9 miles (20.8 km) Nürburgring Nordschleife race circuit in Germany in 7:38.9 minutes to set a new official SUV record with the Turbo GT.

Further underlining the benchmark status of these remarkable numbers, the Cayenne Turbo GT was recently awarded the title ‘Best Performance SUV’ by 4x4 magazine, in its annual 4x4 of the Year Awards.
