The Cardinal Bar & Kitchen Launches its First Menu Led Exclusively by their New Executive Head Chef, Glen Padiyar


The Cardinal Bar & Kitchen launches its first new menu by Executive Head Chef, Glen Padiyar who joined The Cardinal Bar & Kitchen in November 2024.

The new menu draws on Chef Glen’s experience working with the likes of Robin Gill and Raymond Blanc, and merges The Cardinal Bar & Kitchens convivial and welcoming ambiance. Taking inspiration from seasonal produce, global flavours, and the dynamic energy of East London, whilst incorporating vibrant flavours and spice, the new menu creates fresh and memorable culinary experiences for guests.

Executive Head Chef Glen Padiyar says: “The Cardinal Bar & Kitchen strives to offer guests an exciting choice of dishes at an affordable price without compromising on quality. For the new menu, it was important to me to use seasonal ingredients, and ensure the flavours within the dishes were distinct and exciting, capturing the street food landscape in East London. In the new menus I wanted to deliver dishes to be enjoyed and shared.”

New Paragraphstarter plates include Chicken Momos with crispy chilli oil, Samphire Bhajias, and Confit Duck Bao with pickle cucumber. Main courses include a Salsa Verde Cod with a butter bean broth; a Whole Baked Seabass with a miso glaze and pickle slaw; plus a range of British classics, including Fish and Chips, Steak & Fries and the signature Cardinal Burger. For dessert, there is an indulgent Nutella Filled Cookie Dough, a Pistachio Cheesecake and a Strawberries & Cream Tart.

For those looking to enjoy an affordable three-course meal, the Set Menu offers a selection of signature dishes from the Kitchen Menu, for £35 per head. Catering to the city professionals, the Midday Menu offers a range of main courses, with the option of a complimentary house beer, wine or soft drink to accompany the dishes, designed for those seeking a speedy business lunch in between meetings. With a wide roster of cocktails and mocktails available at the bar, The Cardinals’s expert mixologist Samuele Lombardi has a serve for every occasion, including Nightcaps, Martinis and a Margaritas.

 The Cardinal Bar & Kitchen is on the ground floor of Hotel Saint, situated in the heart of ‘The Square Mile’ and inspired by the site’s ancient 2,000-year-old Roman history. The restaurant opened in spring 2024 and has since served local and international guests in a home-away-from-home setting.
