Golden Hour at The Peninsula Paris

A Summer Escape Above the City

There’s something magical about a Parisian summer evening — when the city softens into a golden glow and the sky turns the colour of champagne. Nowhere captures this quiet drama quite like The Rooftop at The Peninsula Paris, a secret garden in the sky where the city’s icons — the Eiffel Tower, Sacré-Cœur, and the rooftops of the Right Bank — provide a breathtaking backdrop.

Tucked away atop one of Paris’s most prestigious addresses, The Rooftop offers a serene and sophisticated escape from the capital’s buzz. Lush with blossoming rose bushes and styled with sunset-hued Roche Bobois settees, the terrace exudes the elegance for which The Peninsula brand is known globally. But this is more than just a view — it’s an experience.

As the sun dips below the Parisian skyline, Golden Hour on The Rooftop begins — a curated summer series designed to capture the essence of elevated leisure. Daily from 5pm to 1am, the space comes alive with ambient sets from DJ duo Bon Entendeur, whose signature mix of retro-infused electronica sets a relaxed, yet effortlessly cool mood. Guests can sink into plush seating, cocktail in hand, and watch the light dance across the city’s most treasured landmarks.

Drinks come courtesy of a creative collaboration with The Macallan, whose refined whiskies lend depth and distinction to a bespoke cocktail menu. Alongside the libations is a menu of exquisitely crafted small plates, overseen by none other than Chef David Bizet — the culinary force behind the hotel’s two Michelin-starred restaurant, L’Oiseau Blanc.

The dishes are light, flavourful, and meticulously presented: flame-grilled lobster roll with tarragon, caviar-topped rolls crowned with crème fraîche, sea bass crudo with salsa macha, and tender beef carpaccio paired with burrata and black olives. It’s fine dining without the formality — elegant, seasonal, and designed for sharing.

This rooftop reverie is just one of the many refined offerings at The Peninsula Paris, a landmark palace hotel that embodies timeless Parisian glamour. Located mere moments from the Arc de Triomphe, the hotel is housed within a lovingly restored Haussmannian building dating back to 1908. Its interiors marry Belle Époque splendour with contemporary design — from its grand marble lobby to its serene spa and 200 rooms and suites, many of which offer their own private terraces.

Dining at The Peninsula is an experience in itself. Beyond L’Oiseau Blanc, which features a replica of the historic biplane that lends the restaurant its name, guests can also enjoy authentic Cantonese cuisine at LiLi or afternoon tea in the hotel’s elegant lounge. Yet, during the warmer months, it is The Rooftop that steals the show — a space that feels at once exclusive and effortless.

Golden Hour on The Rooftop runs daily throughout the summer, with bar service from 5pm to 1am, and food served between 6pm and 10.30pm. It’s a golden moment — fleeting, exquisite, and unforgettable — in a city that was made for romance and rooftop reverie
