THE SHEPHERD MAYFAIR UNVEILS FIRST LOOK AT ROOMS AND SUITES AHEAD OF SUMMER 2026

The Shepherd Mayfair unveils a first look at its rooms and suites ahead of the hotel’s opening in summer 2026, introducing a new style of quietly considered luxury to one of London’s most distinctive neighbourhoods.

 

Positioned as the gateway to historic Shepherd Market and designed by Timothy Shepherd of Shepherd&, the interiors were originally conceived during his previous role as Managing Director at Buckley Gray Yeoman ID and realised through Shepherd&’s continued relationship with the hotel.

 

Spanning 33,600 square feet and forming part of the Elegant Hotel Collection, The Shepherd Mayfair comprises 82 guest rooms and suites arranged over six floors. Accommodation categories range from Standard and Superior Rooms, designed for shorter stays and solo travellers, to the hotel’s largest categories, The Shepherd Suites and Mayfair Suites. Rooms will be available from £500 per night.

The guest rooms and suites are individually configured to reflect the building’s townhouse origins, with layouts shaped by the proportions of each space, many incorporating window seats overlooking Shepherd Market and Mayfair. Interiors pair warm timber finishes with lighter tonal palettes and softly curved upholstery, accented by blue detailing and red velvet curtains. Subtle references to British craftsmanship appear throughout, set against darker, more atmospheric circulation spaces.

 

Practicality is approached with a travel-led sensibility, incorporating adaptable furniture and integrated storage. Desks are designed to convert into dressing tables, while console tables transform into chessboards, complemented by concealed lighting that creates a relaxed, intimate atmosphere. Each desk is finished with a classic banker’s lamp, allowing the space to function comfortably for work when not in use as a vanity, and includes a discreet integrated safe. Bathrooms are finished in marble and stocked with Floris amenities presented in bespoke bottles created exclusively for The Shepherd Mayfair, with selected rooms offering baths and separate seating areas.

 

Corridors feature a curated collection of artworks by British photographer Jack English, many of which are being exhibited publicly for the first time, alongside works by fine art photographer George McLeod, whose practice reinterprets classical imagery through a contemporary lens.

Occupying a rare freehold site, the architectural concept takes inspiration from the eighteenth and early nineteenth century mansions of Mayfair, reinterpreting their architectural language for a contemporary setting. The interiors balance historic refinement with the distinctive character of Shepherd Market. Storytelling details are woven throughout, including references to local personalities such as Desmond Sautter, Lord Sandwich and Tiddy Doll, alongside discreet braille and morse elements that reference the area’s wartime intelligence history and Down Street station.

 

The Shepherd Mayfair will open to guests in summer 2026.
