Geneva to open Portail des Nations, a new gateway to the world of international cooperation

A major new Visitor Centre at the Palais des Nations will open this summer, offering an immersive experience into the work of the United Nations in Geneva

Geneva Tourism is pleased to announce the opening of the Portail des Nations, a landmark new visitor experience located at the entrance of the Palais des Nations. Opening to the public on Monday 08 June, with tickets available from Thursday 28 May, the new centre marks a major cultural moment for Geneva and reinforces its position as a global hub of diplomacy and international cooperation.

Developed by the Fondation Portail des Nations, the new United Nations Visitor Centre will provide a dedicated space to welcome visitors to International Geneva. Located along the iconic Allée des Drapeaux, the centre will be open seven days a week from 9am to 6pm, offering an immersive experience dedicated to the multilateral role and work of the United Nations in Geneva.

Spanning nearly 2,000 square metres across five pavilion-style buildings seamlessly integrated into the Palais des Nations campus, the Portail des Nations will immerse visitors in an interactive journey through installations, open-air pathways and curated storytelling that reveals how the UN and its agencies respond to global challenges.

As visitors move through the experience, they will encounter the many dimensions of international cooperation - from diplomacy to humanitarian action - brought together in an engaging and accessible way and reflecting Geneva’s central role as a hub of international dialogue. Audio guides will be available in eight languages, ensuring an accessible experience for visitors from around the world.

Located at the entrance to the Palais des Nations, between the Place des Nations and the historic UN complex, the Portail des Nations will serve as a symbolic gateway into one of the world’s most important diplomatic institutions, opening it to the public while reinforcing Geneva’s role as a city where global dialogue is made accessible and brought to life.
