INTERVIEW WITH VITTORIO BLENGINI
SALES DIRECTOR CUSTOM BUSINESS FERRETTI GROUP

1. Responsible innovation in this superyacht

Founded in 1963, CRN is recognised as a pure custom Italian shipyard with a strong heritage and a sharp awareness of cutting-edge naval architecture and refined craftsmanship, with incredible flexibility, deep commitment and reliability. The shipyard has always been at the forefront of yachting innovation, pioneering functional and aesthetic solutions that have become industry benchmarks. A key goal that CRN sets itself every day is to source durable, sustainable, high-quality materials to build megayachts. The shipyard also performs every conceivable check to assure the highest quality and low-impact solutions of processes, services and materials.

Moving to more technical aspects, CRN is in the vanguard for implementation of hybrid propulsions, and the shipyard has delivered this year its latest hybrid superyacht, CRN M/Y AMOR À VIDA, while it is constantly working to find new solutions to cut the polluting emissions from its yachts and lessen their environmental impact. CRN M/Y AMOR À VIDA has an innovative hybrid propulsion system that boosts main diesel engines combined with electrical motors powered by the generators, delivering a top speed of 16 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots. The result is a more fluid and silent yachting experience at the impressive speed of 15 knots, while also minimising environmental impact. The superyacht has also an advanced teleheating recovery system, integrated on board to enhance the efficiency of hot water management across the pools and the entire plumbing network. By reclaiming and repurposing excess heat, the system significantly reduces energy consumption and operational costs, while ensuring a rapid and consistent supply of hot water throughout the yacht

2. Was the hybrid system required by the owner?

Indeed, CRN M/Y AMOR À VIDA’s owner requested this kind of propulsion, and the result is a masterpiece of marine engineering. From the very beginning, the project fully fulfilled the owner’s vision and requirements, delivering satisfaction at every stage and culminating in a result that met the owner’s expectations in every respect. From a technical perspective, the hybrid system, integrated here for the first time together with the heat recovery system, are two technologies in which the shipyard heavily invested on this superyacht, and they will contribute to our growing know-how.

Moreover, thanks to her special characteristics and exhaustive studies of vibration and noise reduction performed by the Engineering team at Ferretti Group Superyachts Division, this superyacht is particularly silent, maximizing comfort and liveability from this point of view too, both at anchor and while navigating in open sea.As the culture of the bespoke is rooted in CRN’s DNA, its mission is to preserve and enhance the quality of each vessel by combining the expertise and passion of its in-house professionals with those of key partners and carefully selected subcontractors to create completely custom-built mega and superyachts that are unique to each owner’s vision.

3. In what ways is CRN’s bespoke philosophy embodied in Amor à Vida?

Perfect distillation of the expert know-how of the shipyard, the bespoke yacht design and the construction quality that characterise CRN which, together with the Engineering Team at CRN and Ferretti Group Superyacht Division, developed the naval architecture. Italian yacht design firm Nuvolari Lenard, led by Carlo Nuvolari and Dan Lenard, designed both the exteriors and the interiors. The interiors were created in a joint effort with Valentina Zannier.

Moran Yacht & Ship has a crucial role as the brokerage house that has been working with and representing the owner throughout the entire design and construction process. Her name, AMOR À VIDA (Love for life in Portuguese) embodies the owner’s philosophy of life, a celebration of conviviality and the magic of the sea experience, providing a peerless vantage point from which to explore the world’s oceans and seas. The yacht’s leitmotiv is sociability, thanks to a seamless fluidity between indoor and outdoor spaces, which are designed specifically to welcome guests into generous, functional and refined settings that feature exquisite design and maximum comfort: shared moments in perfect harmony with the sea.

This is highlighted with full-beam glazing on all the decks, offering endless views of the horizon, in a visual continuum that tracks the yacht’s elegant external architecture, creating evocative reflections, flooding the settings with natural light, and establishing constant contact with the water. Also the exterior styling reveals the owner’s desire: the yacht features a sophisticated elegance, with an articulated design that showcases sleek, taut, flowing, powerful and sculpted lines, revealing a strong identity that can embrace the owner’s specific requirements, echoing his vision and way of living on the water.

4. Which current projects at CRN’s Ancona shipyard are already implementing these kinds of technological solutions?

CRN works to find new technological solutions on a constant commitment to R&D. The shipyard has always been at the forefront of the yachting world, driven by a steadfast commitment to continuous innovation — in both superyacht naval architecture and construction processes — as well as the ongoing development of advanced solutions. Currently there are three fully custom CRN superyachts in steel and aluminium under construction at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona, two of which feature this kind of technological solutions:

70m CRN M/Y 145 Project Thunderball will feature a Peak Shaving System, an energy storage system that keeps the electricity curve as flat as possible. It serves to control the utilities on board; it allows operations in silent mode when the boat is anchored.

It combines the design and construction know-how of CRN and Ferretti Group’s Superyacht Division with the experience of the Dutch design studio Vripack, which created the exterior lines, the preliminary naval architecture and the preliminary general plans, while the Italian Nauta Design studio designed both the interiors and the outdoor social areas. Her delivery is planned in 2026. 67-metre CRN M/Y Project 146 has streamlined exterior lines and elegant aesthetics. CRN Engineering has developed the naval architecture, while Nuvolari Lenard Architectural studio designed both the exteriors and interiors. She is equipped with a hybrid propulsion system and her launch is expected in 2027.

5. Interior patterns throughout the superyacht, for instance motives and colours, specifically required by the owner

Like a blank canvas, CRN M/Y AMOR À VIDA – as all the CRN superyachts – is designed so that the owner can imprint his vision on the interior spaces in the form of decoration systems, colour schemes and marine-themed detailing, and this is achieved through craftsmanship at the very highest level.

In this superyacht the continuity between interiors and exteriors enhances the spaces with generous and convivial volumes, dedicated to social moments and to wellness, with privacy as a main trait. The pale, muted colour tones alternate not only on the walls, ceilings and floors, but also on the freestanding furniture, in a carefully crafted colour continuum. The woods, furnishings and fabrics with custom textures reveal a clear theme that’s perfectly aligned with an exquisitely crafted project and with a refined and contemporary bespoke aesthetic. As a main trait of the colour mood board of the interiors, the peacock blue is the fil rouge, very refined and sophisticated as a true distinctive sign.

The flowing volumes also conjure up a fluid and elegant aesthetic of the lines, one that’s reprised not only in the yacht’s silhouette, but also in the interiors, where in fact there are no sharp corners or edges. Another distinctive symbol which conveys the owner’s love of cruising and the life onboard is represented by the marine rope, used as a pattern in various elements, from the top of the American bar located in the main lounge, to the furniture in the living space of the Main Deck.

Geometric harmony has also been pivotal in this superyacht: for instance the central lobby reveals the meticulous consistency required by the owner in the geometrical designs developed. The custom teak and metal floor reprises a meticulously crafted, circular graphic design, requiring extreme precision, symbolising craftsmanship at its most exquisite. Harmoniously integrated within the geometric scheme is the spacious circular elevator.
